NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Lela Rose

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs
Designer: Lela Rose
Season: Spring 2010
Overview: So much color, how could I not love this collection. The overall feel is effortless chic with a touch a glam but in a fun not trying to hard sorta way. I love the mix color blocking and strips in the second to last look (for sure a look I will be re-creating in my Fall wardrobe).
I really loved a vast majority of the collection but above are my favs.

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Victoria Beckham

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs
Season: Spring 2010
Overview: Typically Victoria Beckham, but I love it. The structured detail and body conscious silhouettes are in my opinion fabulous. Spring this coming season either seems to be all about color or very muted and soft. For this collection the muted and soft works perfectly. Very Posh!

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Marchesa

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Marchesa
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: When your looking for gorgeous, stunning, sexy, drama filled evening wear... Marchesa never disappoints! I'm not really a fan of the tattooed patterned tights on the top right look, but somehow they work in a strange sorta way (although I could never pull them off). Every look is so special and unique, one couldn't help but feel like a rock star princess wearing one of these gowns.

Designer: Derek Lam
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: All in all the Derek Lam collection this season was a nice one... nothing really to write home about, but it was nice. Then this look came along and I fell in love. I love how is a simple casual shape but taken up a notch with the beautiful sequin print. Simple stunning!

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Jason Wu

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Jason Wu
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: Watching this show I fell in love... the colors. the waist detail. the feathers. the hats. the shoes. Can we say swoon?!? Every one of these looks I would die to have and would fell fabulous wearing. I did think the show was a bit dark overall for spring but with global warming and all, fashion really has become a season-less affair.

Designer: Rebecca Taylor
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: Girly with a edge is exactly how I would describe Rebecca Taylor. Using a combination of patterns and prints Taylor managed to create a very effortless easy to wear collection. I love the polka dots mixed with the floral and subdued leopard print. I'll take one of each, please!

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Cynthia Steffe

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Cynthia Steffe
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: Light, airy and romantic. The Cynthia Steffe was giving me everything. I absolutely loved the light sheer fabrics that were layered to create a very romantic feel. The collection reminded me of a beautiful bouquet of flowers with out being to literal. The styling of the collection was perfect, soft loose hair, clean fresh make up and those light grey oxford inspired booties have officially been added to my must have's for Spring.

Above are my favs, to check out the entire collection click here.

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Cynthia Rowley

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Cynthia Rowley
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: Always whimsical and never a disappointment, that is how I tend to describe Cynthia Rowley's collections and Spring 10 was no exception. This season the looks were more simple... a sign of more simple times I guess. With the state of the economy and the world for that matter its as if Cynthia was toning it down a bit but in a beautiful way. I love the footwear used as well as the post war hair styles. Oh and I must mention my favorite part of the peek a boo like effect of the fabric underneath...love!

Above are three of the stand outs from the Spring collection, in my opinion of course. To check out the rest of the collection click here and be sure to check out the new short film by CR, Hide & Seek.

Hide & Seek...

With all of the recent fashion week events and fashion shows I think we were all a little in the mood for a beautiful Spring day...at least for the duration of fashion week. Don't worry I am by no means in a a rush to skip Fall and Winter. The fall season just so happens to be my favorite, but in the spirit of fashion week, I too found myself with a small case of spring fever.

Be sure to check out this lovely short film by one of my favorite designers, Cynthia Rowley. The film is titled Hide & Seek and features looks from her Spring 2010 collection.

Stay tuned for a look at my favs from the runway.

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Binetti

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Binetti
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: This past Saturday I had the pleasure of attending the Binetti RTW Spring 2010 fashion show, so I actually have a first hand review ;) I have to admit, I hadn't heard of the designer before attending so I did a little research before hand and found out that the Diego Binetti was relatively new to the fashion scene. Overall I loved their Spring collection, especially the (one again) jeweled accessory like details. Binetti is know for their eclectic, world traveler appeal and this season did not disappoint. I also noticed Binetti's version of the leather shorts first spotted in the Charlotte Ronson show... looks like we might have a new trend on our hands.
Binetti had a clear and straight forward version which I appreciated. Defiantly a designer I will be keeping an eye on for seasons to come.

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Costello Tagliapietra

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Costello Tagliapietra
Season: Spring 2010

Overview:
The overall feel was very rich neutrals done in a clean sleek way. Minimal styling was used as it was all about the lines of the clothing and the accessory like details. Although there were lots of pops of color used throughout the collection, I personal liked the very neutral looks featured above, which is unlike me since I tend to lean towards color. My favorite part of each look was the focus on the neckline as well as the beautifully done construction. Each look has a very smart sophisticated feel that would be a classic for years to come.

Above are my favs from the show, to check out the rest click here...

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Charlotte Ronson

NY Fashion Week
Fallon's Favs

Designer: Charlotte Ronson
Season: Spring 2010

Overview: Light pastels mixed with edgy details. The emphasis continues to be on the waist and legs with figure enhancing waist details and short hemlines. I love the use of the sheer legging, something I plan to try out for the Spring season. The soft buttery leather shorts seen in both a nude pink and black are a must have in my opinion. I really loved the overall feel of the Charlotte Ronson show even down to the piled high tight bun on the top of the models heads; very chic with out trying to hard.

NY Fashion Week Spring 2010: Fashion Night Out

2009 in general has gone by so fast, I can't believe that Summer is practically over much less that NY Fashion Week is in full swing and has been since last Thursday! Seriously, where do the days go. This year my fashion week experience started off with a bang! All of NYC kicked off NY Fashion Week with Fashion Night Out, which included not one but two Michael Kors Public Appearances.

This first event started out at Queens Center Macy's with the likes of Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg & Kate Hudson. Later in the evening Michael Kors along with Debra Messing made a red carpet appearance at Macy's Herald Square to introduce Michael Kors' new fragrance Very Hollywood, where they were welcomed in true holiday fashion with the flashing paparazzi and screaming adoring fans.

All throughout the city last Thursdays were fashion related events open to the public, no invite needed. The only problem was trying to decided which ones to attend.

I (heart) NY!

In the spirit of fashion week I will be bringing you all of my personal favorite looks after reviewing each show, so be sure to stay tuned. Oh and I almost forgot to tell you, this Wednesday, September 16th at 10:00am EST you can watch the Michael Kors S/S 2009 Fashion Show LIVE at www.michaelkors.com

Sunday Morning Bloom's (Monday Edition 9/7/09)

Hi there! I know I'm about 24hrs late for my Sunday Morning Blooms post, but I have been in California for the weekend spending time with my Mom as she actually turned 50 today! My mom isn't exactly a creative time like myself, but since reading my blog some of her views of overall creativity have really started to change. I find her talking more about fashion, vintage things, fresh flowers and *gash* flea markets. Bless her heart, she has even dreams of be featured in my Sunday Morning Blooms. So this week, I decided I would photography the flowers I got her for her birthday as a part of her morning surprise. Look Mom, you made it!!!

Her surprise consisted on fresh baked donuts from the market, fresh flowers,a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and the family tradition of The Beatles birthday song. All in all the day has been off to a great start. Now were off to Benicia for a picnic in the park and some fun in the sun.

So here's to my wonderful mom, the strongest, most amazing woman I know. Life begins at 50... now's the time to make all your wishes & dreams come true. Love you Mom!

Movie Review: The September Issue

Thursday evening I went and saw "The September Issue" with a friend of mine and was more than surprised. I wasn't sure if a documentary about Vogue would be exciting especially after The Devil Wears Prada, I mean how could anything else compare, but let me tell you this gets 5 stars from me. In my opinion the star of the show and American Vogue for that matter is Grace Coddington, the creative director for the magazine. The movie had style, fashion and lots of drama. I particularly like the more personal look at Anna Wintour, you actually left the movie feeling a tad bit sorry for her. Overall its very interesting and exciting for anyone who has ever looked at a September issue of Vogue, so actually get a behind the scenes look at all the work that goes into creating it. Highly recommended and a must see!

In the fashion world, the year begins in September... here's to another great one.

Upcoming fashion events in NYC:
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 9/10- 9/17
Fashion Night Out 9/10

If your in the NYC area be sure to check out The September Issue, for those in LA is coming Sept. 11th.

Victoria Beckham: Fall 2009

I have said it before with Victoria Beckham, Cynthia Rowley, J.Crew and Stella MaCartney.... but I absolutely love the new trend of designers creating this abstract video's to showcase their collection. It takes real creativity and originality to create something so different and special and so far I find the outcome rather lovely. Victoria's new video for Fall 2009 did not disappoint. I must now make it a point to check out her line as she has my attention.

How about yourself, do you like these video's or could you do with out? To check out the others that I have mentioned before click the links above.

Fallon
