Hello.... Sage & Sparkle!

Hello everyone... long time no see!  It's been over a year since I have posted to this site and boy has my life changed.  Not sure who if anyone still comes here hoping there will be updated contact, however looking at my stats I was still getting about a 100 hits a day despite my MIA status, so I figured an updated on where you can find me now was necessary.

Still working for a top fashion designer... now Director of Training & Visual, I moved out of Brooklyn, but still in NYC.  My boyfriend and I moved into a fabulous apartment in LIC, right on the water!  Frankie (my pup) is now about to be 6 years old, which is crazy when I think about it.  Times goes by so fast...

But the most exciting news... is that I am blogging again and in a big way this time around!  You can now find me at Sage & Sparkle, a lifestyle blog where I focus on  style (fashion & home decor), seizing every opportunity to taste something yummy (cooking, baking, and enjoying), encouragement to explore (in your own backyard and beyond), inspiration to create (DIY), and the importance of a good detox (wellness, yoga, tea, and green juice).

With that said, this will be my last post on "Fairytale Wishes & Dreams", while bittersweet, I am so excited about the future with "Sage & Sparkle".  Please stop by the new blog, say hello and sign up to receive my post via email.  I post approx. 5-6 times per week.  Exciting, right?!?

Looking forward to connection again and seeing where this takes us!

The Oscars 2012 - My vote for Best Picture

Wow, this year it was hard to choose! The nominees for Best Picture are some of my favorite films I have seen in a long time. 'The Help' and 'Midnight in Paris' to name a few, but nothing comes close to the way I felt about 'The Artist'! Such a wonderful film.. Not just a wonderful "silent film" but a wonderful film all around! Silent films take acting and directing to a whole new level! I have a new found appreciation for them after seeing this movie.

As for Best Screenplay... Hands down, 'Midnight in Paris' has to win!!! Fingers crossed for Woody Allen, not that he needs it.

Color Inspiration: Mint Green, Cream, Gold, and Tan

Loving this combo. Planning to put together an outfit for next week using my new leather jacket and this as inspiration!  Hope you all are having a lovely weekend.  Just got back from spending the week in Miami, I hate to say it but I am officially ready for Spring.

Color Inspiration: Pink and Red

Pink and red when done the right way can be utterly chic. Ah la Emily, Cupcakes and Cashmere. I think I might have to give his combo a try this Spring. Either way together or apart I will be wearing some form of pink or red tomorrow, there is something about celebrating Valentines Day when you actually have a Valentine that makes it pretty fun!

Weekend DIY Project: Black & White Stripped Painting

As you all know, last week I was in LA for work.  We stayed at The Chamberlain Hotel in West Hollywood, such a cute place filled with inspiration.  One of the things that really caught my eye was this painting handing in my room, if you follow me on instagram @fairytale_wish you have already seen the pic.  When I first saw it I immedently thought, "I can make that".  So today I went to the craft store, got the supplies and made it.  And I am so glad that I did.  The results are stunning.  Keep reading for step by step instructions as well as pics of the finished product.
This simple easy DIY project can be achieved in five easy steps:
(Step 1-4, see above)

Step 1: Step up your work area, this can be anywhere. I used my kitchen country and taped paper towels on the cabinets of they wouldn't get any paint on them

Step 2: Prep your strips.  I used 2" scotch painters tape that I had laying around

Step 3: Start painting!

Step 4: Finish painting all strips, including the sides, top and bottom; wait a couple hours for the paint to fully dry

Step 5: Pull off tape and hang on wall

Tools needed:

-Canvas
-Acrylic Paint
-Paintbrush
-Paint tray
-Painters tape

Finished product, Im so happy with it... also featuring Sunday Morning Blooms for the week! Total time from start to finish was only about an hour, including all prep work.  So easy, yet the end result looks so chic! I think I might hang in my bedroom, when I do I will be sure to share pics.  If you get inspired to make your own, please do share.

A Jolly Holiday with Mary

I came across this picture on pintrest and my heart smiled.  Mary Poppins was one of my favorite films growing up, still is.  I love seeing the magic behind the scenes, makes you appreciate it even more.  I hope all of you are having a wonderful Saturday! Its a little snowing here in NYC today, but I don't mind.  We haven't had much of a winter to begin with, Im just enjoying the moments.  After all... "when the day is gray and ordinary, Mary makes the sun shine bright"

Color Inspiration: Creamsicle, Ivory, and Tan

After spending the last three days in sunny Los Angeles, I must admit I'm kinda ready for Spring! When it comes to getting ready for a new season it's all about putting together your own color palette.

So tonight as I catch up on my DVR form the week (I can't believe that Blair went back to Louie...) I have started pulling together some color inspirations for the coming season. There are some many amazing possibilities that I could not wait any longer, I simply had to share one of them. One of my favorite combinations I pulled together is creamsicle, ivory, and tan, such a perfect combination for transiting into spring, especially when texture is added into the mix. Think lace, light tweed, cork, ruffles, and leather!

Hitting the slopes...

Might need to purchase one of these adorable Kate Spade ski hats for my upcoming trip to Vermont. Now if I could only decide which one that would be, all are so cute! Decisions, decisions.
