After spending a week in California with my family (although I miss them dearly) it was nice to get back in the swing of things and start my weekend off at the Brooklyn Flea Market. The day could not have been better. Picture it: the sun was shinning, the birds were chirping, the air was filled with the mouth watering aroma of all the various food vendors, great records were playing and then this mother walks by with her child in this absolutely to die for baby carriage. I mean seriously I wish I could of snapped a better pic so that you could see all the detail, but trust me, it was perfect! People in New York and Brooklyn particularly have such great style! This picture will defiantly be filed away as a "must have" when I one day (very far from now) decided its time to become a mommy =)
Check out the other great finds I found yesterday.
Enjoy!

A few years back the romper was reintroduced back into mainstream fashion and has since been trying to make its mark. Although I haven't really seen this item of clothing come front and center, it sure has been popular with the fashionistas. This season I have decided to finally embrace the romper. Once I embrace something, watch out... I become obsessed. I'm one of those when I love, I LOVE kinda people. Below is a list of my current fav's. Unfortunately most are a little out of my price range at the moment, I plan to keep my eye out for similar finds at the BK Flea and my favorite local vintage boutiqueCollecther. Be sure to check out the budget friendly version available at American Apparel, perfect for a hot summer night.
Sorry that I have been M.I.A. for a little while, but the time had come for a much needed and much deserved vacation... So I packed up my bags, left on a jet plane and headed out West (Destination: California=Home) for a long weekend. My sister turned 21 on Thursday, Friday some friends and I did a Round Trip Road Trip from The Bay to LA (that's Northern California to Southern California and back for those of your not familiar). Tonight its time to take my sister and her friends to The Park in Sacramento, Ca. for a little post 21st cocktail or two. Sunday will be spent in San Francisco, Ca. going to Church, having lunch and enjoying the beautiful City by the Bay. Monday, some friends and I are going out on the boat for a little fun in the sun and Tuesday is family time before heading back to NYC. Busy, Busy, Busy... but don't worry I will have more pics to share soon.
I hope your enjoying this beautiful Memorial Day Weekend!

First off I apologize for missing the last two weeks of the "BK Flea Top Five", but I really do have good reason. Unfortunately working in the world of fashion at the wholesale level... Mother's Day is kinda a big deal. Being that its such a big holiday (especially for the Handbag industry) I had to work the past two Saturdays but as of yesterday, MY WEEKENDS ARE BACK! Woo Hoo! And am I'm sure you have figured out by now, I knew exactly how to spend my first free Saturday in three, yes three weeks! At the Brooklyn Flea of course. Below are a list of my top 5 picks for the Flea this weekend... plus a bonus extra 5 since its been a while.
Enjoy!
BK Flea Top 5:
Vintage Coffee Warmer and Fondue Pot (Would make a perfect addition to my Kitchen)
Jake & Jill by Louisa M. Alcott (Author of Little Women) *Who knew Jake & Jill had such a lengthy story to tell? Apparently after tumbling down the hill Jake and Jill were both injured. This story tells of their recuperation and the journey of their friends into adulthood. If its still there in two weeks I will have to pick it up just so I can read this story for myself.
Although I try to keep up as best as I can, sometimes life can get a little crazy. When I'm not blogging here... you can usually find many updates on my tumblr.com. This Sunday we all get to find out if the Devil really does wear Prada. Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of American Vogue, will appear on 60mins discussing her life and her "glamorous girlfriend" as she refers to Vogue Magazine. I really admire her passion and drive for fashion and cant wait to see what she has to say. I love how she summarizes the current economic situation by saying now is the time for value. It's not time to completely give up on the dream or the fantasy but we just need to remember to be a little more grounded. I couldn't of said it better myself.
If you interested in learn a little more about Anna Wintour, I highly recommend that you pick up a copy of the part factual, part fictional, Front Row.
It's not easy being a mother. If it were easy, fathers would do it. -The Golden Girls
I believe I owe my night owl tendencies to my dear mother. I can remember many nights staying up late and curling up at the foot of my mothers bed, falling asleep while watching The Golden Girls. I love my mom more than anything is this world. She has raised three amazing, kids on her own, always putting there needs, wants and desires before her own. She is my rock, my support system, my best friend and my number one fan. I can never thank her enough for all that she has done for me in my life. She is a special gift, one that I can never truly express how much I appreciate.
I absolutely fell in love with this videos and wanted to share them all with you. More designers should take this approach to grow their fan base. I think it makes them more original, more artistic and a little less mainstream. *swoon*
When I first moved to NYC almost three years ago. My first job was working in Cynthia Rowley's Design studio on Bleeker St. in the West Village. I know it sounds so glamorous... but actually I was the administrative assistant so the glamor part stopped basically as I turned the corner of the 2nd floor and walked up one more flight of stairs. There were good times and there sure were some bad ones, but honestly whenever I think back on my time there, I am so grateful. I got to work extremely close with one of my favorite designers, experience the design process, type up a few pages of her Slim Memoir, and participate in the holy grail that is known to the rest of the world as NY Fashion week. Not to mention my first couple of months in NYC were spent in the West Village enjoying all that it has to offer.
I will always continue to follow her career (click her for a peek into her sketch book) and hold a sense of pride at least for the fact that for a short time because of me things ran smoothly. =) I came across this video while visiting her site and absolutely fell in love, so I decided to share. Cynthia is an insanely creative individual, I only hope to be half as amazing as her one day.
My weekend didn't actually start until Saturday afternoon this week as I had to work extremely early in preparation for Mother's Day. I can't complain though as my weekend was off to a great start the minute I stepped off the train and ascending up the stair entering the Union Square Farmers Market. The minute I noticed these amazing bunch of lilacs in everyone's hands, I knew I had to have some. So I strolled around for looking for them, stopping from time to time to enjoy the others marvelous thinks on display at the Market. (I just love farmers markets) After about an hour of strolling I came across the stunning display of hundreds upon hundreds of ginormous bunches of lilacs and the best part was that they were only $10 a bundle. The flowers smelled amazing and I couldn't wait to get them in my apartment. On my way home I stopped by Trader Joe's for some yummy meals for the week and then took the ever so fabulous L Train home...
New York City. Aww, I think I'm in love...
