If you have not noticed already, I am absolutely in love with Hydrangea's in the summer time. (Previously posted here and here) Growing up in California this flower is not something you usually see walking down the street but in in Brooklyn, particularly the Clinton Hill/Fort Greene area, they are everywhere. The colors vary from block to block which makes the streets look absolutely beautiful this time of year. Note to self: must pick up a bunch for myself today. Flowers in the home always put you in a better mood.

Well now its off to the park for a day of sun bathing with the bestie! I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! Tonight I will be back with my BK Flea Top 5!!! Stay tuned...

Craft Closet

One word...STUNNING! I'm so behind on my Google reader, but was extremely glad I signed on for a moment today and came across the completion of Levy's craft closet. Levy the fabulous University student behind A Field Journal is always a constant source of inspiration. I remember a while back when she presented us with her sketch's of the Craft Closet that she was working on and how I was instantly intrigued, her illustrations were gorgeous! (click here to see more) My favorite part of the whole project is the way Levy showed the process from sketch to completion as well as the way she presented her pictures using a collage technique (even her breakdown looks fabulous). Now that the finally project has been reveled I am 100% impressed. Levy's sketches were dead on, which I'm sure is so exciting to see plans come to life and honestly I'm a little jealous... I want a craft room like this! Currently I have a room that I like to call "my design studio" although if it looked more like this, I might actually get more designing done there. Now all I have to do is sketch out the plans and get to work. The possibilities are endless...

Featured Designer: Sugar Candy Jewelry

While walking through Macy's Herald Square today, these fabulous zipper necklaces caught my eye. At first I was shocked that Macy's of all place had something like this. The overall style I could imagine more at a place like Bergdrof Goodmen or a trendy boutique in Soho. I know the whole zipper trend has been happening for a while now, but I really love the whole heart and bow shapes mixed with the delicate chain. Its a very nice feminine meets masculine look, which is very in for fall.

I would really love to know more about this designer, who they are, where there from... but I couldn't find anything on the web. Maybe I'm just not a good google searcher, but hey, at least I tried. If you happen to know more about Sugar Candy, please let me know. For now I guess there only available at Macy's.

I came across this absolutely stunning collection of jewelry while browsing on etsy and knew right away that I must share. Bloom Studios created by Christine Mighion is an organic jewelry line featuring recycled metals and natural gemstones. Each piece in the collection is so magical and unique. Any girl would be lucky to have even just one of these pieces in her personal jewelry collection. As for me, I'll take one of everything! ;)

Today is yet another gloomy day in the neighborhood and I'm little upset as yesterday, once again, I missed the BK Flea Market. I mean seriously, this is starting to become a trend, one which I'm not to fond of. As my luck would have it I actually had to work yesterday as new product had arrived at our flag ship store and of course yesterday the weather was perfect. Go figure. But fear not, rain or shine, I'm going to the flea today under the Brooklyn Bridge. So far its just a bit overcast, although thunder storms are predicted, I'm hoping to scare them away with my positive attitude (bringing my umbrella along in case that doesn't work). Wish me luck, I'm hoping to finally have a BK Flea Top 5 for you this week. Stay tuned...

Living in the City: Photography Meets Illustration

I came across this project by LM Studios over on Behance Network which is a website featuring creative portfolios, projects and collaborations. I could seriously spend hours on this site browsing all of the amazing images that people have created. The pieces above really caught my eye. I love the mix of fashion photography along with quick sketches of the background. It's as if the model is awake in a dream... a dream in which she is "living in the city". The overall effect is quite lovely. Whimsical yet with an edge, exactly how I like it!

Driving Along in My Automobile...

OMG!!! My life would be absolutely perfect if I could just have this little beauty parked out front of my fabulous Brownstone here in Brooklyn. Well, first I have to actually get that fabulous Brownstone and second I have to find one of these perfect little cars. But hey whats life, without a little daydreaming? I would literally be on cloud 9 for the rest of my days if this car were mine. Seriously adding it to the list of things I want in my lifetime as we speak. I used to think a Mini Coupe was my car of choice when I finally decide it's time to purchase one (fyi: I live in NYC and with the metro system, a car isn't exactly at the top of my list) but more and more lately I have come to the conclusion that I need a retro car in my life.

The Nissan Figaro, although not retro, it was produced in 1991 after all, would fit me perfectly, at least until I can get my hands one of those fabulous classics of the 40's, 50's or 60's. The Figaro was originally made in four colors, each representing a season of the year; topaz mist (Fall), lapis grey (Winter), pale aqua (Spring) and emerald green (Summer). It was sold only in Japan, but eventually made its way to the UK. Now I just have to figure out how to make its new home the BKNY (Brooklyn, NY). Humm....

Rachel Rachel Roy for Macy's

This past week Rachel Roy launched her new diffusion collection Rachel Rachel Roy, which is exclusive to Macy's Department Stores. I took a peak at the new shop featured on the 2nd floor of Herald Square hanging next to some of my all time favorites, Plenty by Tracy Reese, French Connection and Moschino Cheap & Chic just to name a few. I have to admit I wasn't aware that Rachel Roy had a new more affordable line coming up, but I sure was pleased to find out. I absolutely adore her designs and after browsing through the new shop at Macy's Herald Square in NYC I found quit a few pieces that I loved equally as much but at a fraction of the price. Below are a few pics of the shop at Herald Square that I took on my iphone. There were a lot of little details in the shop that I loved, for one the table top books featured on the shelves. I also LOVE the vintage mannequins as well as the hanging installation on the right side of the shop. The engraved wooden hangers also add a nice touch. As for the clothes, there was a fabulous black borrowed blazer that I must go back and purchase (it was only $149) as well as a black jumpsuit. Overall, very well done!

Sunday Morning Bloom's 8/2/09

Today is a bit depressing weather wise in New York City. The sky's are gloomy and gray. The air is humid and there is not a chirping bird in sight. Yep, just as you guessed we are experiencing yet another thunderstorm. As much as I love a good rumble in the sky. I would much rather prefer that it occur when I don't have a rather large "laundry list" of things to do. Not to mention that I haven't been able to go to the flea market for the past two week's and I'm really starting to miss it. Aw, such is life. At least, I have my laptop, a cup of tea and many episodes of Mad Men to keep me busy.

Well enough about me. This week's Sunday Morning Blooms is a magical picture I found while browsing Flickr, titled "Flowers in Paris". Looking at the photo I like to imagine myself living in Paris, strolling the streets of some fabulous outdoor market. After while I would then stop at a local cafe for a latte and baguette and a chance to skim through a copy of my favorite glossy. Then I would head over to my favorite flower shop, where they would know me by name of course. There I would be able to pick from their beautiful selection of pink and purple flowers, for my own special assortment to occupy my flat for the week ahead. A girl can dream can't she! What would your perfect Sunday consist of; flowers & flea markets perhaps? Or something else?
