A Library of Love...
Some of you may have seen this lovely DIY by Grace of Poetic Home featured over on Design*Sponge... some of you may have not. And for those of you who have not seen it because you don't follow Design*Sponge, first off shame on you (it really is one of the best) and second, I absolutely couldn't let you go through life not knowing about this fabulous project, so I'm re-posting.

The project was inspired by vintage library catalog cards (which you can create yourself through this website). Grace decided to catalog all of the moments that her and her husband have experienced. Continuing on with the idea, she created library cards for these moments by replacing the cataloged book numbers with the dates of the special moments and then using chapters of there life in place of book titles. For step by step instructions and a list of supplies visit Design*Sponge.
I plan to file this away to one day create for someone special! Handmade gifts from the heart are always make the best gifts. It really is the little things that count after all.

Inspiration: Daily Fashion Illustration
I came across a very lovely illustration as a part of Rachel's Weeks Best feature over at Design Lovely (who she found via. Where the Lovely Things Are) and was completely smitten. The artist, Nancy Zhang is a wonderful illustrator who shares her daily wardrobe over on lookbook.nu via charming photos and illustrations. Be sure to also check out her blog for more inspiring illustrations. I am now a huge fan!!!

1920's Jazz Age Lawn Party

While catching up on The Sartorialist I came across these amazing pictures of groups of people dressed to the nines. With each picture is looked as if the subjects had stepped straight out of the roaring 20's. I instantly wondered what, where and why.
After a little google searching I found out that they were attending a real life Gatsby style party. The pictures were taken at the Jazz Age lawn Party on Governors Island in NY. Of course the event was LAST weekend (June 6th & 7th), but seriously I would have loved to have been there. The event featured a "delightful afternoon rendezvous of live music and dance, instructionin period dances, picnicking, and games". It looks as if this is a yearly event, one that I will for sure be on the look out for come June 2010, please do let me know if you hear of any.
For now enjoy the style focused pics from the event, all via The Sartorialist.

Currently Coveting -Vintage Typewriter
Lately I have been seeing vintage typewriters everywhere. Maybe that's because I spend my weekends at Flea Markets, who knows. What I do know is that I have always loved a beautiful typewriter, especially in a lovely candy coated shade of pink, blue, green or yellow. Funny enough, I can still remember actually using a typewriter to type up papers for school. I'm not quite sure if I did this because I had to or because I just liked using the typewriter but ever since the one that we had broke, I have always wanted another. I can just imagine a stormy spring evening sitting at my window, typing chapter's from my autobiography while listening to the sounds of the rain and Ella Fitzgerald playing on the record player (which I also need to get) and sipping a chilled glass of Riesling. Aw, what a life...One day I will find a typewriter that fits my style perfectly until then I guess I'm just stuck with this less attractive HP laptop, which although not nearly as cool, it does serve its purpose. You can't exactly blog with a typewriter.

BK Flea Top Five 6/6/09
First off, I apologize that my Top 5 Picks are so late this week, but I came down with a nasty bug that I'm finally starting to kick (thank God). The good news is that I have some great finds from this past weekend at the flea to share with you today and the even better news is that starting this coming weekend, the flea will actually be an entire weekend long celebration for the duration of the season. Saturdays will continue in Fort Greene and as of 6/14/09, the flea will also commerce underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. How fabulous does that sound?
Well now lets quit the chit chat and get down to business.

not only were we impressed with the preparation the ice was delish! Check out their blog here!

My future little girl may one day hate me for this, but I would totally make her wear this. But then again, maybe she'll love fashion like me and one day be thankful =)
Reupholstered Chair $400
Although a little pricey for a flea market, I loved the color and pattern used in this design.

Perfect for travel or decorating your dressing table.
Yummy Food at the Flea...
Of course I stuck with my beloved pupusas, but my friend was adventurous enough to try the very appealing Asia Dog's. Which by the way passed the test with flying colors!

A Stylish Little World
A few weeks ago a close friend of mine came to me and said she wanted to start a children's clothing line and wanted me to be a part of it. She wants to start with an online store carrying various other vendors and let it grow from there. Since then I have found myself researching different children's clothing sites, but I haven't really come across anything that caught my eye... until now.
Welcome to the world of Bonpoint!
I absolutely love how they merchandise their boutiques, creating a very whimsical, fun atmosphere. The details are amazing, especially the use of wire hangers and wire mannequins.
Check out the Vespa below!
Stunning!

I absolutely love how they display their clothing on their website. Very Anthropologie!

Inspiration Collage: Sunday's Are For Dreaming
This past Sunday I spent the evening with a friend, creating inspiration collages. When I suggested that we go through my old magazines and tear out images that we love, she was a little confused. You see she had never experienced the joy of creating a collage based on your mood and what inspires you... but she was excited and eager to try something new.
I explained the process to her and although it took a little while for her to catch on, in the end I think she did a great job at expressing a particular mood that was inspiring her at the moment. My joy came in the fact that not only was I partaking in one of my favorite activities, but I was also able to share this moment with a friend who thoroughly enjoyed the process and appreciated me sharing it with her. The fact that you could see the sense of accomplishment on her face once her project was complete and that I had a part in that was such a great feeling.
So here it is. The end result of my lovely Sunday Evening. I love how mine (the first one) seemed to end up creating a very light, airy, daydream like quality while my friends was dark, edgy and a tad rebellious which expressed our moods, at the time, perfectly.
