What Home Means To Me...

You may or may not of heard about Pin It Forward, the latest blog mash up hosted by Victoria of sfgirlbybay. I'm so excited to be apart of this mash up and share with you a little bit of what home means to me.  By using the latest craze to hit the blogospher, pinterest, I have created a pinboard of visual images that represent "home". I haven't been able to use pintrest as much as I would like but so far the site is absolutely fabulous.  I have been a long fan of tumblr and still do like the randomness but the fact that you can create different inspiration boards and organize all on one site is fabulous!  If you would like try pinterest, let me know and I will send you an invite.

So with out further a due... what exactly does home mean to me? Well, let me see, for one home is my sanctuary. Living in NYC its nice to be able to come home and feel like you are escaping the outside world and entering one that is entirely your own. Home is where I can dream, relax, create and be inspired.  Home is love. Home is a reflection of who you are and who you want to be.

I recently moved into a new apartment rather quickly, one that is much smaller than my previous one. So its rather appropriate that I am now thinking about what home means to me.  At the end of the day it doesn't matter where you are but what matters most is how you feel when you are there.

As part of "Pin It Forward", please be check out what home means to Eyes of Ab and on Tuesday 6/8 be sure to stop by VintageYankee as well!

J'adore Dior, Resort 2011

Sugar pie, honey bunch.... I think I love you!  Dior's Resort 2011 collection is giving me everything.  I know its not exactly innovative, but I just can't get enough of the 60's american chic influence. Everyone single one of these looks would fit perfectly into my wardrobe. One of each please!

My personal soundtrack for this collection...

I am giddy with excitement to show you this video as I absolutely adore it and I think you might too! I came across it on the Lulu Magazine Website under your "scrapbook" section and knew that I must share. The video titled Frankie & Johnny (No wonder I love it, my little pup is named Frankie) created by animator Isobel Knowles from Melbourne Australia, no relation to Beyonce. Knowles was commissioned by Lulu Magazine to create a animation to play alongside a song by Autosharp instructor Harvey Reid. To be honesty with you, I don't know much about Autosharp, however, I do know I love this video.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

As you all know I work for a fabulous fashion designer, Michael Kors.  This year Michael and his fabulous creative team came up with the most wonderful Mothers Day tribute I have ever seen, A Legacy in Style: Michael & Joan Kors.  (Be sure to click the link to check it out.  Simply fabulous is the only way to describe it.)  Then today he topped it off with the debut of "The Mothers Day Album" on facebook. A few weeks back we were asked at work to submit stores and or pictures about our mothers. I was pretty bummed as I was in Mexico at the time (for work) and wasn't able to submit.  Still I wanted to share with you the fabulous tribute that was pulled together at Michael Kors as well as a little something for my Mother.

Dedicated to my amazing mother Sandi...

My mom truly is my hero.  She is an extraordinary woman who has been through so much in her life but still manages to always put her kids first and be the best mother that she can be.  Before I was born my mother was a Police Officer in Bakersfield, Ca.  The very first woman police officer to be exact.  At 5'5, 100lbs she truly was tiny but mighty, a spirit which she still processes to this day.  There wasn't anything she couldn't do.  To tell her no, was something that inspired her to succeed.  After getting married and become pregnant with me she quit working on the field and moved inside the police station as a 911 dispatcher.  Four years later she had my sister... then shortly after that our world changed.  My parents got divorced and my mom became a single mother over night.  Over the years she has never lost focus of whats most important to her and that is her children.  I never once felt like I was missing out on anything in life as my mother played both the mother and father role perfectly.  Fast forward to now; she is a single mother to three wonderful young adults and is still the one person I want to call when something goes wrong and first person I want to talk to when something wonderful happens.  She is my rock. I love her so much and I know that I don't tell her that enough, but I do. She has made me the person I am today.  We have been through so much and through it all she has show me unconditional love and how to be a strong independent woman; for that I am forever grateful.

I love you mom!!!

Where in the world in Fallon....

My "life" in Mexico!

Hello all my lovely readers!  I am sure you have been wondering where they heck I have been basically since the clock struck 2010.  Well let me start from the beginning (with the condensed version of course).  Basically in December of last year I found out that my Boss was being promoted to a completely different division with out a replacement in site.  As you can imagine my life got a little crazy from that moment on, which would explain the lack of post.  Then February a new Director was announced (LOVE her by the way) and then begin my "MK World tour as I like to call it"  In the past two and a half Months I have been to Mexico 4 times (currently here now), Chicago, St. Louis, Los Angeles 2xs, San Francisco 2xs, Fairfield- Ca oh and don't forget I live in NYC... on top of my brother coming to visit for a week, being asked to be God Mother to my friends little baby girl (born 4/22; 7am), getting PROMOTED (New Title = Retail Development Manager of Accessories & Footwear) and searching for a new apartment.  As you can tell life has been just a "tad" crazy.

Actually, now that I look at it... now wonder I've been tired! Any-who, I wanted to check in with all of you and let you know you are not forgotten.  Also I still plan on introducing the new exciting updates I mentioned a few months ago as a result of my Blogging your Way class and hope to get back to work on them soon!  Below are a few pics from my recent trips to Mexico City, Mexico and Monterrey, Mexico to install MICHAEL KORS Shops within El Palacio!  Pretty exciting stuff as this is our first steps into working with Mexico.

Enjoy!

Currently Coveting: Demure Rockstar

Demure Rockstar

OMG! One look at these pumps and need I say more.  I mean I am seriously sitting here trying to justify a $900 purchase.  I mean look at them, how can you not fall in love.  There classy, sexy, demure and bad ass all rolled into one.  Not to mention they would really go with anything.  The nude patent, had me at hello but they Mr. Louboutin had to go and add a see through "glass slipper" effect and silver studs.  In the words of Rachel Zoe... I die!

Artistic Hair Frill's by Anthropologie

You may have seen these wonderful little works of art over on the Anthropologie website but I couldn't resist sharing theme again.  Anthro continues to shock us with their creativity when it comes to the presentation of their product. I love these current works of art used to showcase some of their new "hair frills".  How lovely would they look pained on wood and hung up in a hair salon in  Soho, NY? Simply fab!

Sunday Afternoons...

Hello My Lovelies!

Its another beautiful day in the neighborhood!  The sun is shinning bright, Spring seems to have arrived and my brother & his best friend are in town, which means the day could not get any better if we tried. Yesterday we had quite an adventure which started off in Clinton Hill/Fort Greene, Brooklyn, then found us in Chinatown, Basketball in Harlem, Picnic/Rowing in Central Park and shopping on 5th Ave.  Now here it is Sunday and its time to enjoy the more simple things that NY has to offer.  Were headed out for the day... got a little bit of a late start as the boys slept in.  Were planning on hitting up the Brooklyn Flea, exploring DUMBO, walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, shopping in SOHO and were ever else the day may take us. Don't worry I will be sure to share a few pics with you from our afternoon adventures.

I hope you all have a lovely day as well! Remember to slow down, forget your "to do list" and embrace Sunday's as they were meant to be.  Go out and create your own perfect Sunday afternoon!  Leave a comment an let me know what you did too, I would love to know =)
